Seasons Half Marathon & 5k
The 6th aanual 1/2 Marathon and 5K will be held September 9th, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Nagog Park in Acton, MA. The race features a scenic rolling course that runs by apple orchards and farmland. There is plently of parking at Nagog Mall and the atmosphere is fun and community oriented. There will be post race refreshments, finishers medals, age group awards, and prize money to the top finishers. After the race everyone is invited to the award-winning Red Raven Gastropub for the awards ceremony and to enjoy a beer.
Behind The Race
Co-race director Karen Francisco's life changed forever when hey mother, Judy O'Brien, was diagnosed with a rare form of thyroid cancer. On January 9th, 2014, Judy lost her battle with cancer. She left behind a large and loving family including her husband of 48 years, 4 children (including Karen), and 12 grand-children. Having seen first hand the pain and suffering that cancer not only causes its victims but also their families, Karen is determined to make a difference and prevent more of the pain and loss that she had to endure. For 2015, race proceeds will go to UMass Medical for clinical trials on all types of rare cancers with a focus on thyroid cancer. Donations will be made directly to UMass Medical and are fully tax-deductible. In addition, the 2016 Seasons 20K will again be run in memory of Judy O’Brien. We hope that the race’s donations can help to reduce the pain and suffering of all cancer victims and ultimately lead to a cure.
